No significant changes to going forecast this evening, with dry and quiet conditions expected overnight and into Friday morning. Friday forecast also looks on track, as breezy south-southwest winds bring much warmer temps to the area.
Upper level flow pattern is undergoing a change as we reach the end of the work week, with a long-wave upper level trough breaking down and a more zonal component developing ahead of developing western trough development this weekend. Low level winds have already backed southwesterly, which brought 60+ degree weather earlier today. Surface winds have slackened with sunset however, and with dry low levels featuring dew points ranging from the upper 20s to mid 30s, these light/calm winds will support overnight lows in the 30s in most spots (low 40s in the city). Other than some thin patchy high cirrus spilling in from the north-northwest, skies will otherwise be clear overnight. Southwest winds will pick up again Friday morning, with gusts around 30 mph developing by midday/afternoon. Warm advection and little cloud cover should allow temps to surge into the 70s for afternoon highs, a good 10-15 degrees above our averages for this time of year.
Going forecast has all of the above well in hand, and other than making some near term temp/dew point adjustments to account for some quick evening drop-offs as winds diminish, no significant changes appear warranted.
