.SHORT TERM… Issued at 208 AM CDT Thu Jun 8 2023

Through Friday…

We will continue with our dry and seasonably cool stretch through the short term period as a surface high gradually sags southward across our area into Friday. Expect temperatures to only top out out in the mid to upper 70s inland, and in the 60s along the lake shore today. Similar weather is expected for Friday, though temperatures will moderate back close to 80 degrees for inland areas. Skies will generally remain mostly clear through the period, though we are likely to see a hazy look to the sky both today and on Friday as smoke from the Canadian wild fires continues to spread a veil of haze across the area. Most of this haze will be aloft, so while there will be a hazy look, we are not expecting significant and disruptive surface visibility restrictions like they have experienced across much of the northeast in recent days.
