.SHORT TERM…
Issued at 246 AM CDT Tue Oct 18 2022

Through Wednesday…

Dominant lake effect band continues to affect southwest Lower Michigan into north central Indiana, with weaker, less organized lake effect into Porter County early this morning. Precip into Porter County is mostly rain, though with colder air slowly filtering into the region its certainly possible that precip could mix with or change to snow, especially away from the lake. Little or no snow accumulation is expected, and with time the lake effect should gradually shift east of Porter County today.

Synoptically today, water vapor imagery shows another shortwave and associated speed max rounding the top of the upper low over Ontario. Guidance pivots this feature south across lower Michigan today, but with trough axis extending west could see some enhanced ascent and perhaps even some sprinkles or a light shower this today. If nothing else, should see a good deal of cloud cover today which should help keep temps unseasonably cool.

Skies should gradually clear out tonight and despite moderating temperatures aloft, it should be another chilly night. We will see a small step up in temps Wednesday, but with lighter winds and mostly sunny skies it should feel milder than today.
