Friday and Friday Evening …
No Weather Hazards expected …
Other than some cirrus, especially southern Chicagoland, the forecast is indicating plentiful sunshine and pleasant spring weather today, except for a cool lake breeze that may move well inland.
DISCUSSION…
Synoptically enhanced lake breeze should result in sizable inland penetration of lake cooling this afternoon with afternoon temps ranging from the 40s near the lake to the upper 50s/near 60 well inland. Saturday looks to be similar, except 3-5F warmer than today. Synoptic gradient should result in light south to southwest winds, meaning afternoon lake breeze penetration will be far more limited. Temps may climb into the low/mid 50s near the lake before settling back into the 40s in the afternoon as lake breeze develops. Footprint of lake cooling Saturday will be much smaller than Friday, limited largely to within 5-10 miles of the lake.
