DISCUSSION…
The airmass in the wake of the recent cold front from Thursday night is of Pacific origin, so while it is drier, it is not that cold.
Saturday will see a modest increase in higher level clouds along with another uptick in temperatures. Normally high temps are in the low to mid 40s in late November, but mid 50s, and possibly upper 50s may be recorded if the clouds don`t fill in too quickly late Saturday.
High pressure over southern Illinois will slide east across the Ohio and Tennessee valley tonight into Saturday.
Otherwise, quiet and dry weather continues Friday night, with seasonable lows in the upper 20s to lower 30s Saturday morning.

No significant changes to the forecast this Friday evening. Did make some minor tweaks to lower temps a bit in some of our typically colder spots, especially with the quick drop after sunset this evening.
Surface high pressure ridge was analyzed from central MO into downstate IL this evening, with weather across the region generally clear and dry. Surface dew points mixed out into the upper 20s in many spots this afternoon, and with a dry air mass, clear skies and light winds we saw several spots dip quickly into the lower 30s after sunset. While warm advection was occurring aloft, strong decoupling of the cool and stable boundary layer should allow temps in some of our typical cold spots to dip into the upper 20s by morning. Did adjust mins downward in these areas, and also lowered wind speeds a bit per obs trends. Otherwise, going forecast looks to be right on track.
Saturday will start out sunny, though we`ll see a gradual increase in high clouds later in the afternoon. The sun combined with breezy southwest winds should make for temps a few degrees warmer than we had today, with highs in the mid-50s most areas and perhaps even a few upper 50s. Clouds continue to thicken and lower Saturday evening, with rain eventually developing from the south late. Some areas may see some light rain develop prior to midnight south of I-80, though rain looks to hold of until after midnight for areas farther north.
