Thursday Night …

No Weather Hazards expected…

This Weather Outlook is for portions of North Central Illinois…Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana.

DISCUSSION…

The airmass in the wake of the this evenings cold front is of Pacific origin, so while it will be drier, it will not be all that cold. For this reason, we expect temperatures to recover back into the lower 50s on Friday under ample sun after overnight lows dip into the lower 30s overnight Thursday to Friday. Otherwise, quiet and dry weather continues Friday night, with seasonable lows in the upper 20s to lower 30s.

.SHORT TERM… Issued at 146 PM CST Thu Nov 24 2022

Through Friday night…

A steady stream of low-to-mid level moisture advection continues across the area this afternoon in advance of a northern stream mid-level short wave now shifting southeastward across the Upper Midwest. While this is resulting in primary cloudy skies across the area this afternoon, slightly deeper moisture and better isentropic upglide focused across the southeastern half of my CWA (roughly east-southeast of the I-55 corridor) is also supporting an area of scatter showers. This general area is expected to continue to be the primary focus for scattered showers at times through the remainder of the afternoon. Thereafter, the shower activity in my southeast is expected to shift out of the area through the evening as a surface cold front shifts across the area.

The airmass in the wake of the this evenings cold front is of Pacific origin, so while it will be drier, it will not be all that cold. For this reason, we expect temperatures to recover back into the lower 50s on Friday under ample sun after overnight lows dip into the lower 30s tonight. Otherwise, quiet and dry weather continues Friday night, with seasonable lows in the upper 20s to lower 30s.
