Saturday and Saturday Evening …
No Weather Hazards expected …
Mid-level cloudiness from Wisconsin into northern Illinois shows signs of dissipating this morning, and is expected to clear out later Saturday afternoon.
Saturday high temperature 62 above normal 56.
DISCUSSION…
Be on the look out for fire weather conditions after Saturday. Minimum afternoon relative humidity values this weekend are generally forecast to bottom out in the 20-30 percent range, lowest Sunday afternoon. Wind should remain well below red flag criteria, but faster drying fuels should begin drying out.
Extended period of unseasonably warm and dry conditions expected this upcoming work week. A storm system along the Gulf Coast should greatly limit moisture return, so afternoon min RH values below 40 percent are likely, but could drop below 30 percent many areas this week. By the middle and end of the week, southwest winds look to increase some, still below red flag criteria, but potentially enough to result in a heightened grass fire danger given the expected long dry spell.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Chicago/Romeoville, IL
619 AM CDT Sat Apr 8 2023
.SHORT TERM… Issued at 236 AM CDT Sat Apr 8 2023
Through Sunday…
Gorgeous early spring weekend on tap. Will see some mid level cloudiness seep south into northern Illinois this morning, but that mid deck should begin to clear out later this afternoon. Lake breeze today should penetrate inland with far less vigor than Friday, meaning more substantial lake cooling should be confined to areas within 5-10 miles of the lake. Highs today should climb into the 60s most of the CWA, but should range down to the 40s along the immediate lakeshore.
Sunday should be milder with highs in the mid to upper 60s. Once again, an afternoon lake breeze should form, but again a bit weaker than the prior day. Other than some afternoon cirrus, should be a good deal of sunshine.
