Clouds won’t significantly clear until after 3AM, which help hold in warmth for most of the night.

Through Friday night…
A rather quiet stretch of weather is expected through the short term period as high pressure remains dominant across the Great Lakes. There are thus, no major weather concerns anticipated through the period, aside from the possibility of some nocturnal fog.
High level cloudiness has shifted into the area in advance of an upper low moving over New Mexico this afternoon. This cirrus shield will continue to result in filtered sunshine across our area this afternoon, with temperatures generally topping out in the middle 50s. Partly to mostly cloudy skies will then continue overhead into tonight, before this higher level cloud cover decreases into early Friday morning. Temperatures tonight are expected to generally bottom out in the 30s (low 40s in the city). Some patchy fog will again be possible late tonight, especially in any areas that see the higher level cloudiness clear late tonight.
Mostly sunny skies are expected for the day Friday, which should help temperatures warm to around 60 for an afternoon high. Onshore easterly winds may hold areas along the lakeshore a few degrees cooler, however. Winds will become light under mainly clear skies Friday evening and night. This should be favorable for good radiative cooling, and the possibility for more fog late Friday night as temperatures look to drop back into the 30s.
