Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Chicago/Romeoville, IL
1242 AM CDT Wed Apr 12 2023

.SHORT TERM… Issued at 249 PM CDT Tue Apr 11 2023

Through Wednesday night…

Upper level ridging remains overhead continuing the dry and mild pattern. Southwest winds become lighter this evening as the inversion builds, but will ramp back up Wednesday morning into Wednesday afternoon with gusts around 30 to 40 mph across much of the area. This is due to the tight pressure gradient between the high pressure to the southeast and developing low off of the Rockies. Highest gusts look to be toward the IL/WI border. Looking at 925 mb temperatures in the 17 to 20C range highs are expected to be around 80. Wednesday night southwest winds will become lighter but we could still see some gusts around 20 mph through most of the night.
