NIGHT FORECASTS β¦
NOTE: Keep in mind lunar rise and set times don’t always correspond with night weather and early morning lows because on some days during the month the moon is visible in the sky predominantly during the daytime hours.

No Weather Hazards expected β¦
No significant forecast challenges or concerns in the short term period.
DISCUSSION…
Mostly clear skies expected tonight, which should then give way to some increasing high cloudiness Friday as ridge builds over the area and plume of high level moisture associated with the subtropical jet is able to spread north into the area.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Chicago/Romeoville, IL
1159 PM CDT Thu May 4 2023
.SHORT TERM… Issued at 202 PM CDT Thu May 4 2023
Through Friday night…
No significant forecast challenges or concerns in the short term period.
Mostly clear skies expected tonight, which should then give way to some increasing high cloudiness Friday as ridge builds over the area and plume of high level moisture associated with the subtropical jet is able to spread north into the area. Guidance in good agreement on 925mb temps 2-3C warmer than today, so as long as there are some breaks in the high cloudiness, high temps tomorrow should be several degrees warmer than today.
Pressure gradient will tighten up Friday, leading to a bit more of a fresh south wind with some gustiness during the late morning into the afternoon, particularly if temps get as warm as expected and there are indeed breaks in the cirrus. The stronger south winds should result in less inland penetration of the lake breeze, with lake cooling more confined to the immediate IL shore and inland a bit over the north shore.
Have mostly removed the small precip chances Friday into Friday night. Column is forecast to remain fairly dry and forcing nebulous with some fairly substantial height rises expected. Can`t rule out a light shower or sprinkle far western CWA Friday night, but overall it looks dry through Friday night.
