 NIGHT FORECASTS …

NOTE: Keep in mind lunar rise and set times don’t always correspond with night weather and early morning lows because on some days during the month the moon is visible in the sky predominantly during the daytime hours.

Overnight Wednesday to Thursday …

No Weather Hazards expected …

Only forecast concern this period is the potential for patchy frost tonight.

DISCUSSION…

Temps will quickly drop into the 40s this evening with lows in the upper 30s likely for most of the area tonight. Light/calm winds will likely allow for some areas to drop into the mid 30s by morning. Thus, some patchy frost is possible though there remains quite a bit of uncertainty given there is some weak warm air advection overnight that may allow temps to level off overnight. However, the most favored areas for some patchy frost appear to be far northeast IL and northwest IN and added it back into the forecast for tonight.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Chicago/Romeoville, IL
1225 AM CDT Thu May 4 2023

.SHORT TERM… Issued at 222 PM CDT Wed May 3 2023

Through Thursday night…

Only forecast concern this period is the potential for patchy frost tonight.

A lake breeze continues to move inland this afternoon with temperatures only in the 40s at the lakeshore. The lake breeze will continue inland through sunset when it will dissipate.

Thursday will be warmer with highs in the lower 70s for much of the area, but a lake breeze will keep areas near the lake cooler. Lows Thursday night will also be warmer, in the upper 40s/lower 50s.
