Good stargazing with very few if any clouds in the sky until after 1am Sunday. Winds will be gusty overnight Saturday to Sunday, but with no wind chill. The air temperature reached at least 79°F on Saturday. The official high temperature is not released until after midnight. The record high air temperature for October 22 is 87°F set in 1953. Sunday’s forecast low temperature of 60°F (tomorrow morning October 23, 2022) is almost 20 degrees above the normal of 41°F … and the forecast low is the same as the normal high temperature for October 23.

Through Sunday night…
It is another beautiful weather day across the region, with temperatures as of this writing quickly warming through the upper 70s under sunny skies. Winds continue to be breezy from the south, but magnitudes are lower than what was observed on Friday. Temperatures will top out around the 80 degree mark this afternoon before readings drop off through the 70s early this evening. Overnight lows only drop off into the 55 to 60 range, so expect the unseasonably mild weather to continue.
A powerhouse sub 990 mb surface low is forecast to quickly shift northeastward over the Plains late tonight into Sunday morning before occluding over the Dakotas late Sunday night. The track of this low will keep our area in strong mild southerly flow through the remainder of the short term period. As such, expect temperatures to once again top out in the 70s on Sunday, though with a bit more clouds than today. Aside from the mild temperatures, strong gusty south winds (up to 35 to 40mph) will be the main weather story Sunday afternoon and evening as the aforementioned Plains low strengthens the pressure gradient across the region.
Mid-level lapse rates really steepen overhead in this warm air advection pattern late Sunday into Sunday night. This may hel Psupport some scattered shower/storm development overhead after sunset Sunday. We thus continue to advertise chance POPs for the area during this period. Otherwise, with more cloud cover and continued breezy weather Sunday night, low temperatures may be even warmer than tonight`s readings, with many areas possibly not falling much below 60 degrees. This is not too far off our record warmest low temperature readings for this time of year.
